Would you like to be able to develop and get your glaze recipes in order?
Would you like to lower the melting point to save energy?
Would you like to be able to translate foreign glaze recipes to local raw materials?
This class is designed for those who are interested in developing glazes to meet a specific need. We will begin with basic glaze theory to learn about how glaze materials function in a recipe and how to adjust them. Students will also learn about how to testing glazes in an efficient way. Finally, we will learn how to use glaze software to develop new glazes and run glaze testing.
Various topics which related to glaze testing (kiln firing theory, clay and slip, etc.) will be covered in this class.
With a degree in ceramic engineering, as well as a BFA and MFA in ceramics, potter Po-Wen Liu has a great knowledge in glaze chemistry.
Course fee:
4 975 SEK incl. materials and lunch.
7 250 SEK in a single room incl. materials, breakfast, lunch and evening meal.
6 750 SEK in part of a double room incl. materials, breakfast, lunch and evening meal.
Check-in from 4 pm the day before workshop start.

The accommodation and the school buildings are gathered like a small village with a main building, reception, theory classrooms and a dining hall. The rooms are very well equipped and the traditional style of the buildings gives the school a pleasant atmosphere. In the dining hall all meals are served, prepared from the best of ingredients locally produced if possible by our executive Chef and his team.
In a nearby building you will find studios for the courses.

The region around lake Siljan has a unique craftsmanship tradition. With this strong tradition as base, Leksand Folk High School is considered as one of the best craftsmanship pre-trainings in the country. Leksand is located within a three-hour trip by train through a beautiful landscape of open fields, lakes and forests from Stockholm and Arlanda Airport. You will find 6 to 8 daily connections directly from Stockholm and Arlanda Airport to Leksand station.
